Early Life: Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad was born on October 27, 1953, in Chanchaga Local Government Area in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria.
Educational Background: He pursued his education diligently, attending schools such as the Native Authority School in Minna, Sheikh Sabbah College (now Sardauna Memorial Secondary School) in Kaduna, and Abdullahi Bayero College (now Bayero University) in Kano.
Legal Education: Justice Dattijo earned his LLB (Hons.) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and completed his BL at the Nigerian Law School.
Advanced Studies: His commitment to legal knowledge took him to Warwick University in Coventry, UK, where he pursued his LLM from 1982 to 1983. Additionally, he obtained an Advanced Certificate in Practice and Procedure from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
Career Start: He commenced his career as a Higher Registrar at the High Court of Justice in Minna in 1976.
Judicial Journey: Over the years, he ascended the judicial ranks, becoming a Magistrate Grade II in 1978 and later the Chief Magistrate in 1984.
Chief Registrar: In 1986, he was appointed as the Chief Registrar, further solidifying his role within the Nigerian judiciary.
Court of Appeal: Justice Dattijo’s dedication to the legal profession led to his appointment as a Justice of the Court of Appeal in 1998. He went on to serve as the Presiding Justice in the Sokoto Division of the Court of Appeal in 2009 and the Presiding Justice in the Port Harcourt Division in 2010.
Supreme Court: On July 10, 2012, he reached the pinnacle of his career, being elevated to the esteemed Supreme Court of Nigeria, where he continues to serve.
