100 day in Igumale: James Oche’s enduring legacy in Ado LGA

Recognizing insecurity as the big threat, the James Oche led administration of Ado Local Government deployed its efforts to confronting insecurity, largely because it would pave way for the smooth implementation of other projects. To effectively do this, he moved for and substantiated his dexterity in the following ways.

a. The Enforcement of the Anti open Grazing Law of Benue State which put both the locals, farmers and nomads on their toes as to what would constitute a violation of the law and the attendant consequences.

b. Championing the “Red Card to Crime” Campaign. By this, the length and breadth of Ado was properly sensitized using the traditional rulers and officers from the Local Government on his intolerable disposition to fighting crime.

c. Proper Empowerment for the Homeland Defence Volunteers Front and the Vigilante. These two security outfits were properly kitted to empower them for the job ahead. This was through the provision of security support equipment and the proper training of personnel.

d. The Ado Whistle Blower Policy. This wonderful idea yielded more than the required results as individuals volunteered credible information that led to the tracing, tracking and arresting of criminals particularly kidnappers and people in illegal possession of firearms who have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

James Oche’s security dexterity singled him out for commendations by the Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom both during the State Executive Council meeting, on radio and when he attended the Deputy Governor brother’s burial in Otukpo where Oche’s colleagues were tasked to emulate him.

The people of Ado jointly and severally have commended in an unprecedented way, the security efforts of this untiring chairman that have culminated into the absolute peace the place is now known for. Armed robbery, robbery, kidnappings and cultism among others have been graciously decimated by the Oche administration in just 100 days.
