1. Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue State has explained why he, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State met with Peoples Democratic Party presidential (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, Mr Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential (LP) candidate and former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, in London.
Ortom said he and his team met with the Nigerian leaders in London on Thursday to discuss Nigeria’s survival ahead of next year’s general election.
2. Over 70 wives of fallen police officers in Benue state have been empowered by the wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba and National President of Police Officers’ Wives Association, POWA, Hajiya Hajara Alkali Baba.
The empowerment took place at the premises of the Police Officers Mess in Makurdi on Friday evening after the POWA President took time to advise and encourage the wives of fallen police officers and those still serving to engage in meaningful ventures that would make them resourceful and supportive to take care of their children.
3. Supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, weekend grounded commercial and business activities in Makurdi the Benue state capital with a One-Million-Man- March tagged ‘Obitrek, We Are the Structure’.
The self sponsored march had people from all works of life including women, youths and the elderly in attendance.
4. Mrs Eunice Ortom, the wife of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, marked her 50th birthday in the state on August 27, 2022. It was an occasion that saw many dignitaries in attendance, including the Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa and the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu.
5. A 45-year-old man from Benue State has been arraigned at a Makurdi Magistrate Court for cannibalism.
Jeremiah Ode, from Igwe Ochekpo in Oju Local Government Area, who was caught eating the head of a woman he allegedly killed on her farm, is being prosecuted at a Makurdi Magistrate Court, for the gruesome murder of Priscilla Adoga, 65.
6. The Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has explained the delay surrounding the recruitment of 2,500 teachers in the state.
Chairman of SUBEB in the state, Comrade Joseph Utse, in an interview with our correspondent in Makurdi, dispelled the insinuation that some people had already been given the job, saying that the process is in progress
