Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reappointed 12 out of the 14 members of Governing Council of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, who he relieved of their positions two months ago following the unending crisis trailing the appointment of a new vice-chancellor for the university.
Apart from the chairman of the sacked team, Prof Adebayo Ninalowo, who was on his second term in that capacity when they were all sacked, Mrs Folasade Adesoye also did not make the new list.
The former Accountant General of the state and Permanent Secretary, state Ministry of Finance, Sir David Sunmoni replaced Prof Ninalowo as the new chairman of the reconstituted council.
Mr Tokunbo Wahab, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Education, made this disclosure in a statement on Sunday night, saying the appointment was based on the report of the Special Visitation Panel constituted by the governor to help to find a way out of the stalemate in the appointment of the ninth vice-chancellor of LASU.
He said the visitation panel chaired by the former vice-chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Prof. Bamitale Omole, recommended the dissolution of the previous governing council and by the powers conferred on the governor by the University Law, Cap L69 volume 7, Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (as amended).
Though Mr Wahab in the statement was silent in connecting any of the returned appointees to the dissolved team, he listed other 12 members of the new council to include Prof. Amuwo Shaffudeen, Mr Anuoluwa Eso, Mr Karl Toriola, Mr Adekunle Soname, Mr Tolani Sule, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, Mrs Foluke Abdul- Rasaq, Mrs Morenike Williams, Adebayo Akinsanya, Mrs Adenike Yomi-Fasheun, Mrs Mojisola Tolagbe Taiwo and Dr Hakeem Adetugbobo.
He noted that the date for the formal inauguration of the new governing council would be announced later.
The 12 returned appointees only spent nine months before they were all sacked by the governor.
