15 soldiers dead, patrol van burnt as bandits attack in Kebbi

Fifteen soldiers were killed in a fresh bandits’ attack on Kanya, a village in Danko/Wasaga Local Government Area of Kebbi state.

The attack came barely 24 hours after about 65 local vigilantes and a number of civilians were killed in a bandits’ attack on Ikara village.

The attack took place in the early hours of Wednesday leading to the burning of vehicles.

Vanguard reported one Abdullahi Sulaiman saying many hostages were taken in villages closed to Kanya.

While the Kebbi State Police Command has not released an official statement, the police public relations officer in the state, SP Nafiu Abubakar was not reachable on phone
