15-year-old boy killed in school stabbing in Sheffield

A 15-year-old boy has died after being stabbed at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield, police have confirmed.

The victim, identified locally as Harvey Willgoose, was attacked at around 12:17 GMT on Granville Road. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.

South Yorkshire Police have arrested another 15-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody as investigations continue.

Assistant Chief Constable Lindsey Butterfield stated that officers were working “at pace” to determine the full circumstances of the incident.

She urged the public to respect the privacy of the victim’s loved ones and refrain from sharing distressing content online.

A heavy police presence remains at the school and surrounding area. It has emerged that the school was placed under lockdown on 29 January due to “threatening behaviour between a small number of students,” according to a message from head teacher Sean Pender to parents. However, police have not confirmed whether this is linked to the stabbing.

By evening, floral tributes and heartfelt messages had been left outside the school. Friends and classmates described Harvey as a “bubbly” and “joyful” presence. One message read: “You made everyone laugh. Your energy was contagious. You’ll be missed by so many.”

A local 17-year-old, who knew Harvey through mutual friends, expressed his shock, recalling him as a cheerful Sheffield United fan.

Another student described him as a “lovely lad” who brightened the school halls, adding: “You didn’t have to know him personally to feel upset.”

All Saints Catholic High School was rated “Good” by Ofsted in its last inspection in October 2023, with inspectors highlighting its “strong ethos of warmth and respect.”
