2019: All is set for a free, fair, credible election – Mahmud Yakubu

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC professor Mahmud Yakubu has assured of the commissions readiness of conducting a free, fair and credible elections in 2019.
The INEC chairman who gave the assurance at a meeting with northern traditional rulers in Kaduna also allay fears that the commission is colluding with political parties to compromise the polls.

The meeting between the Northern traditional rulers and INEC is to discuss and chat a course for a violent free elections in 2019. Issues of insecurity, prosecution of electoral offenders as well as voters education top discussion. Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar and Emir of Kano Mohammed Sanusi the second express concern over attitude of politicians to compromise electoral officials and also condemn display of weapons by thugs during campaigns.

While assuring of the commission’s readiness to conduct a hitch free election in 2019, the INEC Chairman professor Mammud Yakubu says that the issues raised by the traditional rulers will be looked into.

Keynote speaker at the event General Buba Marwa says the issue of drug abuse remain a major concern which needs to be addressed.
