2019: Benue goes agog as Ortom kicks off campaign in Makurdi (Photos)
Makurdi, the Benue State capital went agog on Monday as thousands of people trooped out to show support for the aspiration of the State Governor, Samuel Ortom to return to the Benue government house in 2019.
The event which had in attendance, former Senate President, David Mark, former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, Ex-Senate President, Iyorcha Ayu, former Benue governor, Gabriel Suswam and a host of others witnessed massive turnout of Benue people.
Speaking at the event, Benue Zone C senatorial aspirant and former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro said the people of Zone C were challenging other zones in the state that Zone C would have the highest number of votes for all contestants under PDP in the coming elections. He said, “I challenge other zones to compete or challenge Benue Zone C on this assertion.”
Also speaking, former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam who said Ortom’s victory was a done deal, urged Benue people to vote wisely by ensuring that PDP wins in all the elections including that of the House of Assembly.
In a similar way, former Senate President, Sen. David Mark charged Benue people to return Ortom in 2019, saying the governor is a defender of Benue people. Mark, who scored Ortom high on security said the Benue Governor was protecting the interest of the state through his dogged stand against insecurity.
Amazed by the turnout at the rally, Mark said, ” I have being in politics for 20 years and at every election I have had cause to be here, but this is the first time I’m witnessing this type of massive crowd. This is an indication of the massive acceptance of the PDP. This goes to show that Ortom has won the 2019 elections, and I congratulate him.”
Speaking, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom chided those allegedly ‘misleading the people’ over his achievement, saying those who said “I have done nothing are either mischievous, deaf or dumb.”
Ortom who reeled out some of his administration’s achievement urged Benue people to pick up copies of his achievement documents to see for themselves what he had achieved.
He said a particular Senator who had lost his place and now confused had alleged that killings in Benue state were being carried out by Benue people, saying such an individual and his statement must be disregarded.
