On Wednesday evening in Cape Coast, Ghana won 3-0 in their opening tie of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign.
The Black Stars improved greatly in the second half, scoring three goals after a lacklustre first half. Ajax midfielder, Kudus Mohammed, was the first player to score, blasting the ball into the net from close range to soothe the jitters and inspire the Black Stars to try for more.
Just three minutes after the 53rd minute goal that Kudus scored, AS Roma’s Felix Afena-Gyan flicked the ball into the net for Ghana’s second goal, his first ever goal for the country.
In the 86th minute, Nantes’ Osman Bukari also scored his first Ghana goal to seal the match and give the Black Stars maximum points and the top spot in the Group F rankings after the first round of AFCON qualifying matches.
In the other Group F match, Angola beat Central African Republic 2-1 to be joint-leaders with Ghana.
