Sao Tome and Principe’s national team has landed in the country in preparation for their upcoming clash with Nigeria in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Comprising 21 players, coaches, and officials, the team arrived at the Victor Attah International Airport on Thursday morning.
It’s worth noting that the outcome of this match will not affect Nigeria’s qualification prospects since the Super Eagles are already one of the 15 teams that have secured a spot in the tournament set to be held in Cote d’Ivoire next year.
Currently, Nigeria leads group A with 12 points, while Guinea-Bissau is in second place with 10 points. Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe have been eliminated from contention.
In their previous encounter in June 2022, the Super Eagles dominated with a 10-0 victory, with Victor Osimhen contributing four goals to the scoreline.
The upcoming game is scheduled to be held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
