2023: Benue PDP unveils campaign structures, declares resolve on unity, focus, battle readiness ahead of elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State rose from its Expanded Stakeholders meeting Monday September 19th, 2022 in Makurdi with a declaration of its readiness to do electioneering battle and win resounding victory at the 2023 general elections.

At the meeting jointly chaired by His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom and Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Isaac Mffo the organisational structures for its campaign, as received from the National Secretariat, were unveiled.

Those detail the formation of the State Campaign Council, State Campaign Management Committee, Local Government Campaign Committee, Ward Campaign Committee, Kindred Campaign Committee and Polling Unit Coordination Committee.

The Expanded Stakeholders meeting also nominated persons to fill positions on the State Campaign Council and State Campaign Management Committee, with efforts still ongoing to compose membership of the other structures.

Governor Samuel Ortom takes headship of the State Campaign Council, to be Deputised by 2023 PDP Governorship Candidate in the state, Engr. Titus Uba, while Dr. Tyokyaa Cletus and Hon. Ediga Akpa emerged Director and Secretary respectively of the State Campaign Management Committee, with Barrister Mue Clement to serve as Legal Adviser, Moses Audu in charge of Field Operations, Major General (Rtd.) Gabriel Edeh Ode for Security Matters, and Bemgba Iortyom as Spokesman of the Campaign, among others.

In a keynote charge to the stakeholders at the meeting and PDP faithful across the state, Governor Ortom stressed the need for greater unity and focus on the task to rescue Nigeria from misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level as well as consolidation of victory in the state at the coming polls.

In response, the stakeholders through various speakers expressed a resolve to remain united and focused, even as they declared readiness of the party at the various levels in the state to diligently canvass support of the electorates towards winning resounding victory at the 2023 elections.

Stakeholders in attendance at the meeting inlcuded Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, Senators Gabriel Suswam Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev and Patrick Abba Moro; BoT member, Mrs. Margaret Icheen, Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party, Sir John Ngbede members of the party’s caucus in the House of Representatives as well as those in the state Assembly, State Working Committee members, State Assistants and LGA chairmen of the party.

SSG Prof. Tony Ijohor SAN, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Gabriel Tivlumun Nyitse Commissioners, Special Advisers to the Governor, the G-14 and G-9 groups of elders, Local Government Council Chairmen, selected elders of the party from across the state as well as volunteer groups including the Igbo Community,, Hausa Community and Forum of Non Indigenes were also in attendance.
