Reno Omokri, an ally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate Atiku Abubakar, said Obi’s outburst against Dino Melaye at the presidential debate indicated that the former Anambra State governor couldn’t be trusted with power.
During the presidential debate by Arise TV, a mild drama ensued between Obi and Melaye after the latter tagged an attendee of the meeting ‘Obi people.’
As one of the attendees stood up to question the presidential candidates, Melaye was heard saying, “Na wa o, Obi people.”
Hearing the comment, Obi snapped at the PDP official.
Obi retorted harshly from his seat, saying: “Stop that Dino. Why are you always calling me? I won’t take that. This man is from ANPP. Why are you calling him Obi people?”
Reacting, Omokri wondered why Obi would react angrily at Melaye but promised to dialogue with the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
In a series of tweets, Omokri described Obi’s reaction as unpresidential.
He tweeted: “Where was the anger we saw Obi display yesterday against Dino at the AriseTV town hall when it comes to IPOB? This is a man who goes on national TV to defend IPOB and ESN. Fight IPOB, not Dino! I am not sure Obi can be trusted with the weighty powers of a President.

“I am surprised Obi is talking about character as a shield to corruption. On that AriseTV town hall stage, Obi is the only one who was named by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists in their Pandora Papers as having corruptly enriched himself!”
