Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie, has received the green light to face England in the round of 16 of the ongoing 2023 Women’s World Cup. The news was confirmed by the Falcons’ coach, Randy Waldrum, on Friday.
Oparanozie had missed all the group matches that the Super Falcons played against Canada, Australia, and Republic of Ireland due to injury. However, after undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, she has been declared fit to feature in the crucial encounter against England on Monday.
In a press conference, Coach Waldrum expressed his delight at having Oparanozie back in contention. “She (Oparanozie) is fit now and should play some part against England,” he disclosed.
With Oparanozie back in the squad, the Falcons now have another attacking option alongside Asisat Oshoala and Ifeoma Onumonu, who have played pivotal roles in leading the Nigerian attack during the World Cup.
