Oluremi Tinubu, the country’s first lady, has extended her appreciation by bestowing a remarkable reward of $10,000 upon each member of the Super Falcons. This gesture comes as a token of recognition for their remarkable achievements during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons demonstrated their mettle by progressing to the coveted Round of 16 in the prestigious competition. Their resilience and dedication shone brightly even as they exited the tournament following a gripping penalty shootout against England’s Three Lionesses.

The Super Falcons captured the admiration of global spectators with their exceptional performance throughout the tournament. Their remarkable display on the field did not go unnoticed, prompting Oluremi Tinubu to take the initiative and celebrate their unwavering spirit and outstanding fortitude.

Tinubu commended the players for their tenacity and acknowledged their relentless dedication to the sport. She aptly described them as exemplifying an “unbreakable spirit and unwavering strength.”

Osinachi Ohale, an esteemed defender and a key member of the Super Falcons, expressed profound gratitude for the unexpected honor. “We are grateful for this unexpected gesture because for several years we’ve been winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) and I can’t remember us being honoured or rewarded this way,” she noted, emphasizing the significance of this momentous recognition.

In addition to the heartfelt gesture from Nigeria’s first lady, the players conveyed their gratitude to the federal government for its continuous support and encouragement. They also extended their appreciation to the entire nation, acknowledging the resounding encouragement and backing they received from their fellow Nigerians during their remarkable journey in the global spotlight.
