2023 WWC: Super Falcons’ Ucheibe ranked 6th best tackler
Christy Ucheibe, a standout player of the Super Falcons, has secured the sixth position in FIFA’s rankings for top tacklers during the recently concluded 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
FIFA unveiled this ranking through its official Twitter account on Tuesday.
Ucheibe showcased her talents in all four matches played by the Super Falcons throughout the tournament.
The midfielder from Benfica in Portugal exhibited an impressive total of 36 tackles during this global quadrennial event.
Leading the list was Australia’s Katrina Gorry, who registered an astounding 59 tackles, while Jackie Groenen from the Netherlands and George Stanway of England shared the second position with 44 tackles each.
Securing the third place was Sweden’s Filipa Angeldahl with 43 tackles, while Grace Geyoro from France claimed fourth place with 40 tackles.
Taking the fifth position was England’s Lucy Bronze, who accomplished 37 tackles.
The Super Falcons’ journey in the competition concluded in the round of 16, as they exited following a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to England’s Three Lionesses.
