Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida, has offered valuable advice to Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum, ahead of their crucial 2023 Women’s World Cup clash against Australia. Babangida recommends deploying players capable of exploiting Australia’s weaknesses from the wings in tomorrow’s encounter.
After playing to a 0-0 draw against Canada in their opening game, the Super Falcons face a tough challenge against Australia, who secured a 1-0 victory over Republic of Ireland.
In an exclusive chat with Completesports.com, Babangida emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong defensive structure while also utilizing players who can create problems for the Australian team from the flanks.
“The game against Australia will be tough, and we must not let them dictate the flow of the match as they can be dangerous,” Babangida stated.
Having analyzed Australia’s game against Ireland, the former winger suggests that the Super Falcons should capitalize on their opponent’s weaknesses on the wings. He urges Coach Waldrum to deploy players who can overpower Australia from those positions and deliver precise crosses to the team’s strikers.
Babangida also stresses the importance of defensive discipline, urging the team to avoid unnecessary mistakes in order to secure a victory and three crucial points in the group stage of the tournament.
