2024 UTME: JAMB registration begins, 747 CBT centres accredited
The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of registration for the 2024/2025 Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examinations. The registration period starts today and concludes on February 24, 2024.
JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, assured a seamless registration process during a meeting with media executives in Lagos State on Sunday. Preceding the registration, an accreditation exercise is conducted to verify the suitability of each Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre for the examination.
Oloyede highlighted the composition of the accreditation team, including Chief External Examiners (VCs/Rectors/Provosts), Technical Advisors, JAMB state coordinators, and JAMB Technical Officers.
As outlined in the presentation to stakeholders, candidates are required to create a profile using the National Identity Number at various CBT centres nationwide. Registration involves generating a profile with JAMB USS codes 55019 or 66019. Oloyede emphasized the necessity of using only one sort code to prevent multiple charges. A unique verification tool, such as thumbprint, concludes the registration.
The registration fee is set at N3,500, and the payment process is cashless to prevent extortion. JAMB accredited 747 CBT centres for the 2024 UTME, indicating a notable increase from the 613 approved centres in 2023. Lagos leads with 80 accredited centres, followed by Ogun with 44, and Oyo with 42. Zamfara has the fewest accredited centres at 6, while Ebonyi and Kebbi each have 8.
Analysis reveals the South-West geopolitical zone has the highest number of CBT centres (226), while the North-East has the lowest with 67 centres.
