2025 Budget: FG allocates ₦6.36bn for renovation of Tinubu, Shettima’s official quarters

The Federal Government of Nigeria has allocated ₦6,364,181,224 billion for the refurbishment and rehabilitation of residential accommodations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and several of their aides in the 2025 budget proposal.

This allocation was outlined in the 2025 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly, which projects an annual upkeep cost of ₦5.49 billion for the Presidential Villa.

The budget includes ₦765 million for the renovation of the Vice President’s residence and guest house.

Refurbishment costs for the President’s quarters at the State House are estimated at ₦6.39 million, while renovations for security quarters, the auditorium, gymnasium, and aides’ quarters will total ₦49 million.

Additionally, the renovation of Prescott Barracks, the officers’ mess building, and the signal office in Asokoro, Abuja, is projected at ₦51 million.

The budget also reveals that President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima are set to receive ₦87 million for honorarium and sitting allowances, while ₦127 million has been allocated for the purchase of SUVs.

Further, ₦3.66 billion has been earmarked for the procurement of operational vehicles for the State House, and ₦1.09 billion will go toward replacing the current fleet of SUVs.

The budget for the State House Lagos Liaison Office includes ₦14.72 million for routine maintenance of facilities such as Dodan Barracks and the Vice President’s guest houses in Ikoyi.

Additionally, ₦140.10 million has been allocated for the completion of renovations and furnishing at the State House annex at Dodan Barracks in Lagos.

In another development, the Federal Government plans to invest ₦1.83 billion in converting properties seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into quarters for the State House.

This investment aligns with the EFCC’s recent announcement of the recovery of a significant estate in the Lokogoma District of Abuja, covering 150,500 square meters and consisting of 753 duplexes and other residential units.
