2025 UTME: Nigerian universities that accept low JAMB score
Amid ongoing concerns about low performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, several universities across Nigeria have announced relatively low cut-off marks for the 2024/2025 academic session, offering opportunities to candidates who scored below 180 or 160.
A number of federal and state universities, particularly in northern Nigeria, have set their cut-off marks between 140 and 150 for various courses, particularly in education, arts, and social sciences.

Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG)
BASUG accepts candidates with scores from 140, especially in departments such as Education, Agricultural Science, and Sociology. -
Sokoto State University (SSU)
SSU’s cut-off begins at 140 for courses including Political Science, Education, and History. -
Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA)
While primarily science-oriented, KSUSTA admits candidates with scores from 140 in selected courses including agriculture and social sciences. -
Federal University, Birnin Kebbi (FUBK)
FUBK, a relatively new federal institution, accepts applicants from 140 upwards for some departments such as Sociology and History. -
Taraba State University (TASU), Jalingo
TASU maintains a cut-off of 140 for several programs, particularly in Education and Public Administration. -
Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos
