2026: Nigerian pastor predicts coup attempt, removal of sitting governor

A Nigerian cleric, Pastor Biodun Oladele, has predicted a turbulent 2026 for the country, warning of a possible coup attempt and the sudden removal of a sitting governor.

Speaking during his annual prophetic declaration for the year 2026, Pastor Oladele said he foresaw major political upheavals that would shake Nigeria’s leadership landscape. According to him, the developments are signs that “God is changing times and seasons” in the nation.

“I see a coup attempt that will be silenced, and I see a sitting governor lose his seat in a way that has never happened before,” the cleric said, describing the events as unprecedented in Nigeria’s political history.

He further warned that political actors should not assume that ongoing battles are over, noting that internal sabotage and power struggles would intensify in 2026.

The cleric also claimed that one governor would be forced to “run for safety,” while another would face a humiliating downfall.

Pastor Oladele stressed that the prophecies were not meant to incite fear but to serve as warnings, urging leaders and citizens alike to pray for peace and stability in the country.

His predictions have since sparked conversations among church members and the wider public, especially amid Nigeria’s history of military rule and recent political tensions.

While the cleric did not mention specific names or states, he maintained that the events would unfold clearly as the year progresses.

As with similar prophetic declarations, the predictions remain matters of personal belief, with observers noting that Nigeria continues to operate under a constitutional democracy and civilian rule.
