2027: Idoma group endorses Alia for second term, cites projects in Benue South
Idoma Patriots for Good Governance has declared its support for Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for a second term in office, citing reported development projects in Benue South Senatorial District and the need for continuity in governance.
The group said its endorsement was based on its assessment of the administration’s interventions in infrastructure, healthcare, education, water supply, security and other critical sectors affecting residents across the state.
Among the major road projects cited by the group are the 52-kilometre Oju–Awajir Road, the 31.36-kilometre Igumale–Agila Road and the 43.5-kilometre Obagaji–Okokolo–Agagbe Road.
According to the group, the projects are expected to improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and ease transportation for residents in the benefiting communities.
The group also highlighted reported interventions in water supply, including the rehabilitation of the Otukpo/Otobi waterworks, as well as projects in primary healthcare and public education.
It maintained that sustained investment in these sectors was essential to improving living standards, expanding economic opportunities and ensuring that rural communities benefited from government programmes.
Idoma Patriots for Good Governance said continuity in leadership would provide an opportunity for the Alia administration to consolidate its development agenda, complete ongoing projects and address areas where residents still expect improved service delivery.
The group, however, called for sustained attention to insecurity, youth unemployment, rural development and access to essential public services, stressing that the welfare of the people must remain central to governance.
It also urged the state government to maintain an inclusive approach to development by ensuring that communities across Benue State, including those in Benue South, receive appropriate attention in the distribution of public infrastructure and social services.
While reaffirming its support for Alia’s second-term ambition, the group said it would continue to advocate accountability, transparency, equitable development and good governance in the interest of the Idoma people and the wider Benue community.
The statement was jointly signed by Ejembi Adaji, president of Idoma Patriots for Good Governance, and Eneh Echibi, the group’s secretary, in October 2026.
