2027: Tinubu will lose woefully in FCT, he won’t get 2 per cent

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that President Bola Tinubu will struggle to secure even two percent of the votes in the 2027 presidential election in the capital if he fails to intervene and stop the Minister, Nyesom Wike, from undermining the party.

Party leaders made this assertion during a press conference in Abuja, expressing concern over the disregard shown towards APC members in recent appointments made by Wike.

They also expressed fears that the party might lose the next Area Councils election if the current situation persists, attributing the decline to the Minister’s disregard for the APC and its leadership.

The APC chieftains, led by convener Comrade Abdulwahab Ekekhide and co-convener David Omobolaji Obaje, highlighted that since assuming office, the Minister has declined to engage with the party’s leadership despite repeated attempts to schedule meetings.

Recall that Wike, a member of the PDP, was appointed as FCT Minister by President Tinubu, the APC’s leader.

Ekekhide emphasized that the APC in the FCT vehemently opposes “the continuous lopsided appointments, abandonment, and total disregard for the APC in FCT by the minister.”

“We call on Mr. President, who is the Governor-General, to rein in the Minister and urge him to empower the party. Otherwise, the party’s support for the President in the 2027 Presidential election may plummet to as low as 2%. Additionally, the party risks losing the next Area Councils election if the current situation persists.

“As we all know, the President delegates his powers to a Minister to oversee the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and today Barr. Nyesom Wike is acting on behalf of the President as the Honorable Minister of the FCT,” he concluded.
