A midnight fire has claimed the lives of 24-year-old Jumai Sunday and her infant son, Nasir Rabiu, in Abuja. The victims were residents of Eggon Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.

The tragic incident occurred at a house in Kugbo Furniture Market, within the Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Eyewitnesses report that the fire broke out while the mother and her son were asleep on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Neighbors and sympathizers discovered their charred bodies after firefighters had contained the blaze and began assisting in rearranging the property.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, with investigations underway. The victims have been laid to rest at the Kugbo Cemetery, located off the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Expressway.
