Joseph Sunday, a 26-year-old electrician, appeared in an Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, on Monday, accused of stealing a motorcycle.
The police charged Sunday with criminal trespass and theft, citing the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
The court heard that the complainant, Bitrus Dogara, reported the incident at the Kafanchan Divisional Police Station on Nov. 8, stating that his motorcycle, parked at the Kafanchan General Hospital, was stolen.
The defendant, Joseph Sunday, was allegedly found in possession of the stolen motorcycle.
Sunday pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
The Police Prosecutor, Peter Joseph, requested an adjournment to present witnesses.
Presiding judge George Gwani granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N35,000 and required a surety in the same amount.
The case was adjourned until Nov. 15 for further proceedings.
