Libyan investigators have discovered the bodies of 28 migrants near a detention facility in the southern desert city of Kufra, the Attorney General’s Office said Sunday.
Security forces freed 76 migrants from the facility, where a gang had allegedly detained, tortured, and subjected them to inhumane treatment.
Kufra, near the Egyptian and Sudanese borders, is a key transit point for migrants. Libya’s security situation remains volatile, with armed groups and human traffickers exploiting migrants through forced labor, unlawful killings, and abuse.
