Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has expressed strong confidence in the future of Afrobeats, dismissing concerns that the genre may decline on the global stage.
Speaking during a recent interview with Yaw on Wazobia FM Lagos, the African Queen crooner maintained that Afrobeats remains vibrant and far from fading, contrary to speculations in some quarters.
According to him, the steady rise of young and talented artists across Nigeria continues to sustain and evolve the genre, ensuring its relevance for years to come.
“Afrobeats can never die,” 2Face said. “If you listen to some of the young Afrobeats artists today, you will agree with me that the genre is in safe hands.”
He further praised the new generation of musicians for their creativity and unique sound, citing a recent remake of his song If Love Is A Crime by fast-rising artist, Fola.
“I really loved it — soft, smooth vocals. It’s amazing. The present crop of artists have special flows. I truly appreciate their style,” he added.
