Operatives of the Ogun Police Command have arrested a 30 years old woman, Bola Agbedimu, for allegedly spending fake N1000 notes at the Kila market in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Odeda divisional headquarters that the suspect was caught spending fake currency notes in the market.
The Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen on Friday in Abeokuta that following the report, the DPO Odeda division, CSP Femi Olabode, detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“On searching her bag, a sum of N24,000 fake currency note was discovered.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed that she is a habitual counterfeit naira note dealer.
“She confessed further that her mode of operation is mixing the counterfeit notes with genuine ones and used it to purchase goods,” Oyeyemi said.
The Police spokesman said preliminary investigation revealed that; “she has been arrested on many occasions at different markets within Abeokuta.”
He said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
