30-year-old woman arrested with AK-47 and magazines hidden inside garri sack
A 30-year-old woman named Hauwa Yusuf has been arrested by the Special Tactical Squad for concealing an AK-47 rifle and four AK magazines inside a sack of garri.
The arrest occurred along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway during a routine stop-and-search operation.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, disclosed at a press briefing at the STS headquarters in Abuja that Yusuf admitted to being directed by notorious Katsina bandit Aminu Basullube to transport the weapons.
Adejobi said that on August 14, 2024, acting on intelligence, operatives of STS intercepted one Hauwa Yusuf ‘F’ 30 years of Dutsin-Ma LGA of Katsina State, adding that the suspect was arrested while in transit from Lafia, Nasarawa State to Katsina State, inside a Sienna bus along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
He revealed that a search was conducted and one AK-47 rifle without breach Number and four AK magazines concealed inside a white sack of Garri were recovered from the suspect.
According to him, during interrogation, the suspect confessed that one Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit terrorizing Katsina State general axis, sent her to take delivery of the arms in Danum Madam Camp, Katsina State.
