34-year-old Ogun woman found dead inside canal

A 34-year-old woman named Bidemi Damilola was discovered lifeless near a shallow canal, close to a piggery farm in the Mabolufon area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

According to information obtained from the Ogun State Police Command, the woman had gone missing before her lifeless body was located on Friday.

Her husband, Adekunle Fetiga, initiated the search and promptly reported her disappearance to the Igbeba Police Division.

Fetiga expressed concern as his wife, who had left their home on Thursday, had not returned.

The circumstances surrounding her death remained unclear, although the police noted the discovery of a plastic bag containing an unidentified liquid substance at the scene.

Additionally, two pairs of slippers believed to belong to the deceased were found near the shallow canal.

Although there were no visible signs of violence on her body, an investigation has been launched to unravel the circumstances of her disappearance and subsequent demise.

Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the preliminary investigation and disclosed that once it was completed, the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. Meanwhile, the woman’s body has been taken to the State Hospital Mortuary in Ijebu-Ode for a post-mortem examination.
