Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen and men of the late militant, Terwase Akwaza alias ‘Gana’ Thursday morning attacked Tse Shikaan in Mbagena, Kpav, katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that no fewer than 36 persons including 7 students of the Benue State College of Education, Katsina-Ala, were killed in the attack with scores injured and several others displaced.
The attack is coming barely 72 hours after the the same group allegedly killed about 100 persons in three communities in the same Local Government Area of the State.
The herders according to sources were led by one notorious emerging leader of the Gana group known simply as ‘Akati’
The source added that Aketi is the new militia leader of the Gana boys who hails from Mbagena, Michihe council ward of katsina-Ala LGA.
“Akati is the first gang leader to have aligned himself with the Fulanis herdsmen,” local news medium, Citizen TV quoted a source as saying.
“The herdsmen were grazing in Turan across River Yooyo, it was Akati who asked them to cross over to Shitile and graze freely and anyone who touch them will have him to contend with.
“The day he attacked Abaji, the herdsmen were telling people while grazing around Shitile on market even that Akati said he will be coming to the market tomorrow” the source added.
