A tragic accident occurred in llage, Benue State, on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the loss of eight lives and injuries to two others.
The collision, involving two vehicles carrying passengers, was reportedly caused by speeding and an attempt to evade a pothole, according to the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Benue State, Steve Ayodele.
Witnesses to the harrowing incident in llage, Benue State, recounted the devastating aftermath of a head-on collision between two vehicles carrying passengers. The collision, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, led to the loss of eight lives and injuries to two others.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident scene was chaotic as sympathizers and security agents worked to evacuate the mangled bodies of the victims from the wreckage.
Providing insights into the cause of the accident, Steve Ayodele, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Benue State, attributed the tragedy to speeding. He explained that one of the drivers attempted to swerve to avoid a pothole, leading to the fatal collision with the oncoming vehicle.
Ayodele stated, “It was a multiple accident involving two vehicles and it was fatal. 10 persons were involved – four female adults, five male adults, and one female child. Out of the 10, eight people died.”
