No fewer than eight persons were killed and scores of houses were burnt by yet to be identified persons in Plateau State, the police said on Wednesday.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Plateau Police Command, Mr Tyopev Mathias, revealed that the attack also left three others injured.
The incident occurred when the attackers stormed Abonong and Zayit villages of Foron District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.
“The communities were attacked by unknown gunmen on Tuesday which resulted in the death of the eight persons with 95 houses burnt and 310 cattle rustled by the assailants,” the statement read.
The attackers were said to have vandalised houses in the communities, looted foodstuff and, thereafter, set the houses on fire.
The Command said the gunmen took to their heels on sighting a team of police officers who arrived in the communities after a distress call.
