Gabonese president’s son arrested

A son of Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba has been detained on charges of “treason.”

Additionally, the deposed leader, along with several family members, has been confined to their residence.

A statement delivered on state television confirmed, “President Ali Bongo is under house arrest, surrounded by his family and doctors.”

In the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, the coup plotters took action, invalidating the results of the Saturday election in which Bongo had been proclaimed the winner.
