Sunday Agada lands in court for swindling his client of N400,000
Sunday Agada, a 40-year-old carpenter, appeared before the Karu Grade I Area Court in Abuja on Monday, facing charges of allegedly swindling his client of N400,000. The police filed charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating, and criminal misappropriation against Agada.
The complainant, Ochuba Njidea from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) academy in Karu, Abuja, entrusted N400,000 to Agada for a set of chairs. However, Agada was accused of dishonestly converting the entire amount for personal use and failing to deliver the agreed-upon work.
While the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Ade Adeyanju, informed the court about the confession made by Agada during the police investigation.
The alleged offense is in violation of sections 312, 322, and 309 of the Penal Code.
Judge Umar Mayana granted bail to the defendant, stipulating a deposit of N400,000 as bail bond. He also specified that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and their addresses would be verified by court officers. The case was adjourned until October 11 for further proceedings.
