Appeal Court sacks Labour Party Rep Emeka Nnamani
The Appeal Court in Lagos State has ousted Hon Emeka Nnamani of the Labour Party as the representative for Aba North and South Federal Constituency. The court attributed the removal to a case of certificate forgery committed in 2015.
The verdict proclaimed Alex Ikwechegh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the rightful winner of the Constituency.
This decision aligns with the Tribunal’s judgment on September 11th, which found Nnamani guilty of forging a degree certificate from the University of Port Harcourt in 2015. The Tribunal had imposed a 10-year ban on Nnamani from seeking public office.
The Appeal Court affirmed the tribunal’s ruling, emphasizing that the conviction for certificate forgery in 2015, upheld by the Appeal Court that same year, remains valid. As a consequence, the Labour Party’s candidate appeal was dismissed.
