Kaduna bombing: El-Rufai under fire
Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has suggested that powerful forces may be orchestrating kidnappings and terrorism in Kaduna State.
Accusing the immediate-past governor of the state, Nasir El-rufai, of taking insufficient action to address the prevailing insecurity, Sani urged the Federal Government to intervene promptly.
Speaking on Trust TV’s ‘Daily Politics’ program, Sani highlighted the alarming trend of consistent kidnappings in Kaduna State schools.
He specifically pointed out the recent attacks on educational institutions such as Greenfield University, Bethel Baptist School in Kajuru, and the College of Agric and Mechanisation.
Sani expressed concern about the apparent lack of decisive action by the state government in response to these security challenges, saying, “Kaduna is the only state where you have consistency in kidnapping in schools.”
He recounted instances where schools were targeted, students were kidnapped, and in some cases, lives were lost.
Drawing attention to the dire situation, Sani stated, “In Bethel Baptist High School, I was there after the kidnapping happened and I saw how women sold their homes, lands, and personal possessions to gather money and pay ransom, and the state government in Kaduna did nothing at that time.”
“If there are no powerful forces behind these terrorists, where does the money go?” Sani questioned, suggesting a deeper and more intricate network involved in the incidents of kidnapping and terrorism in Kaduna State.
He urged authorities to address the root causes and protect the lives and security of the residents.
