Principal suspended in Katsina amid allegations of sexual assault on student

The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has taken decisive action by suspending Lawal Ibrahim, the Principal of Government Day School in Dantankari, Dandume LGA, amid allegations of sexual assault against a female student. The suspension followed the filing of a report detailing the purported incident.

A press statement from the Director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, outlined that Governor Radda has directed the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the matter.

Furthermore, an inquiry has been initiated into the conduct of the Dandume Police Officer (DPO) over allegations of accepting gratification related to the case. The state’s police command has acknowledged awareness of the allegations against the DPO and affirmed that investigations are actively underway.

The official statement reads:

“His Excellency, the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has received a report on allegations of sexual assault against Lawal Ibrahim, a Ministry of Education staff member, who was then the principal of Government Day Secondary School, Dantankari, in Dandume Local Government Area, involving a female student of the same school.

“In consequence thereof, the Governor directed as follows: The Honourable Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education to immediately suspend the said Lawal Ibrahim and investigate the allegation promptly, take appropriate action, and report back to the Governor.”
