Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, along with several other notable personalities, have commended Dr Agada Boniface Apochi and his siblings for the establishment of the Apochi Memorial Hospital, a state-of-the-art medical facility in Ukwo, Owukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The hospital, officially unveiled during the weekend, received accolades from Tambuwal and other dignitaries present at the commissioning ceremony, IDOMA VOICE reports.
Constructed by the children of Chief Emmanuel Anyebe Apochi, the hospital is a tribute to their late father, the On’agene of Amuche, who has gone on hunting expedition.
In his address during the commissioning, Tambuwal praised Bar Agada and his siblings for choosing Owukpa as the location for the project.
Tambuwal said the hospital is expected to have a monumental impact not only on the people of Owukpa but also on the entire state and Nigeria as a whole.
He said, “I applaud Dr Agada Boniface Apochi and his siblings for their vision and dedication in bringing such a crucial healthcare facility to Owukpa. The Apochi Memorial Hospital is a shining example of how private initiatives can contribute to the overall well-being of our communities.”
A representative of Governor Hyacinth Alia expressed the state government’s commitment to supporting the hospital and ensuring its seamless operation for the welfare of the community.
In an interview with IDOMA VOICE, Most Rev Michael Apochi, the Bishop of Otukpo Catholic Diocese, expressed profound admiration for the Apochi family’s consistent dedication to the well-being of the people.
“In the spirit of selflessness, the Apochi family continues to be a shining example of generosity and care. Their legacy of benevolence will undoubtedly inspire generations to come,” he said.
He added that their benevolent gesture is a lasting legacy that will endure beyond their time.
HRH Emmanuel Odeh, the Ad’Ogbadibo, while speaking with our correspondent, expressed gratitude to Dr Agada for his relentless efforts in putting the Owukpa community on the global stage.
He acknowledged that the hospital was one of the various initiatives brought to the community by Agada and his siblings.
The monarch also commended Dr. Apochi Alfred, a former lawmaker, for contributing solar-powered streetlights to the community, citing the family’s history of philanthropy dating back to the renowned Chief Apochi’s era.
