Nationwide protest kicks off in Lagos [PHOTOS]
A nationwide protest against the economic hardship in the country has been initiated by the human rights group, Take It Back Movement, starting in Lagos.
This protest comes in defiance of the earlier warning issued by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade. The police spokesman in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, quoted Fayoade in a statement on Sunday, cautioning intending protesters against violence or actions that could infringe on the rights of others. This includes acts such as obstructing traffic and disrupting commercial activities within the state.
Despite these warnings, the protesters took to the streets on Monday, brandishing placards to voice their concerns.
Fayoade, in his earlier statement, assured residents of Lagos State that necessary security measures had been implemented to safeguard lives and property, whether or not a protest occurred.
