The Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has confirmed the deaths of four people in a recent flood disaster that struck the state.

The flooding caused extensive damage, destroying homes, inundating farmlands, and washing away parts of the Kano-Maiduguri expressway.

Mr. Masud Aliyu, Director-General of SEMA, provided details on Wednesday, noting that the flood affected Shira, Giade, and Katagum Local Government Areas due to heavy rainfall over recent days.

“The flood has left thousands of people homeless, submerged agricultural lands, and disrupted roads,” Aliyu reported.

He highlighted that key roads impacted include the Giade-Isawa route and sections of the Kano-Maiduguri expressway. The state government has mobilized contractors to repair the damaged roadways and establish alternative routes for travelers.

Aliyu also advised residents to follow warnings from the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) regarding potential flood risks.
