Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara have congratulated Donald and Melania Trump on the former US president’s apparent victory in the election.

“Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback!” Netanyahu stated in an English-language message, written in Trump’s signature bold style. “Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America. This is a huge victory!”

He concluded with, “In true friendship,” signing off.
