Arc Sonny Echono bags Lifetime Achievement Award at Idoma International Carnival grand finale

The organisers of the Idoma International Carnival have honoured the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sonny Echono, with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education and public service.

Echono, a renowned architect and seasoned administrator, received the award at the grand finale of the Idoma International Carnival 2025 on Friday night in Otukpo, Benue State.

According to the organisers, the honour was bestowed on Echono in appreciation of his remarkable achievements, sustained advocacy for educational development and lifelong commitment to national service.

They noted that through strategic engagement, selfless leadership and consistent interventions, the Idoma community has benefited from the establishment of key federal institutions, including the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, and the Federal College of Education, Odugbo, in Apa Local Government Area, among others.

Jointly presenting the award, the President and Founder of the Idoma International Carnival, Prince Edwin Ochai, alongside the Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Danlami Ogenyi and Engr. Agaba Ikwue, commended Echono for his tireless dedication to the advancement of education and development of Idoma land.

They urged the awardee not to relent in his efforts, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the Idoma people whose impact has continued to resonate across generations.

Responding, Echono expressed deep gratitude to the organisers for the recognition, describing the award as deeply emotional and fulfilling.

He noted that receiving such an honour from his own people was a clear affirmation that his years of service had made a meaningful impact.

Echono reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote education, unity, and sustainable development, while encouraging the younger generation to embrace excellence, integrity, and service to humanity.
