2027: Solomon Agidani’s son, Oloche joins Benue South Senate Race

Engr. Oloche Gabriel Agidani, son of former lawmaker late Rt Hon Solomon Umoru Agidani, has declared his interest in the Benue South Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general election.

His father, Solomon Umoru Agidani, represented the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2011, where he played an active role during Nigeria’s early democratic years.

Engr. Agidani’s entry into the race adds to the growing field of aspirants seeking to represent Benue South, as political activities ahead of 2027 continue to intensify across the district.

Profile

Engr. Oloche Gabriel Agidani is an infrastructure and energy expert with over 15 years of experience in public service and development work across Nigeria’s power and infrastructure sectors.

He began his career at the Energy Commission of Nigeria and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Office, where he was involved in community-based interventions in health, education, and energy efficiency.

He later spent more than a decade with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), contributing to major national initiatives including Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan, expansion of power transmission infrastructure, and renewable energy projects targeted at underserved communities.

Agidani holds a Master of Science in Electrical Technology for Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. He has also undertaken executive and professional training in energy systems, sustainability and urban mobility at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as grid-scale renewable energy specialization under JICA.

Currently, he serves as the Managing Director of Agonye Nigeria Limited, where he oversees projects in energy, construction, and consulting, with a focus on infrastructure development, job creation, and sustainable private-sector growth.

Engr Agidani hails from Obagaji in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

He is presenting himself as a development-driven aspirant, with a focus on improved electricity supply, infrastructure, security, youth employment, and inclusive economic growth for communities across Benue South.

The Benue South Senatorial race is expected to be highly competitive, with several aspirants already consulting stakeholders and positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
