FCT polls: Wike tours polling centres to dupervise voting process
As residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) participated in the Area Council elections, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike moved around polling locations to observe voting activities and ensure compliance with electoral rules.
The minister’s first stop was the polling centres along Lagos Street in Garki 2, where he assessed the conduct of voters and electoral officials. During the visit, he noticed some traders who were still opening their shops despite the ongoing voting exercise.
Wike immediately instructed the traders to close their businesses and adhere strictly to election guidelines, urging them to prioritise the electoral process.
He called on residents to demonstrate patriotism by turning out in large numbers to cast their votes and contribute to the democratic process.
The minister also visited the Karu Chief’s Palace and several other communities within the FCT to monitor security arrangements and election operations during the poll.
The Area Council elections are expected to determine local administrative leadership across the FCT, with officials assuring voters of a smooth and orderly voting exercise throughout the day.
