Benue APC Primaries: Blessing Onuh, Ojotu Ojema triumph as Ottah, Okoriko, others await final judgment
The battle for the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets in Benue South Senatorial District has entered a decisive phase, with some aspirants securing their places on the party’s final list while others continue to await the outcome of pending appeals.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that among those whose victories were retained by the APC are Lady Blessing Onuh, who emerged as the party’s candidate for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, and Pastor Ojotu Ojema, whose victory for the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency was also upheld.
However, uncertainty continues to surround the party’s tickets for the Benue South Senatorial District and the Enone Federal Constituency.
Francis Ottah Agbo, who was initially declared winner of the Benue South Senatorial primary, is facing a challenge from former APC senatorial candidate Comrade Daniel Onjeh, who petitioned the party’s appeal committee over the conduct and outcome of the exercise.
Similarly, Anthony Agom, who emerged winner of the APC primary for the Enone Federal Constituency, is also facing a challenge from, Okoriko Aba, who is contesting the outcome before the party’s appeal panel.
The development comes amid the conclusion of the APC’s review of National Assembly primary elections across Benue State, where the party overturned several results following petitions by aggrieved aspirants.
The National Working Committee (NWC) approved changes in parts of Benue North-East and Benue North-West Senatorial Districts, restoring the tickets of incumbent senators Emmanuel Udende and Titus Zam after the party’s appeals committee upheld their petitions.
The review also affected some House of Representatives constituencies, with candidates believed to be aligned with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, replacing some aspirants earlier declared winners during the primaries.
Despite the changes recorded in other parts of the state, the victories of Lady Blessing Onuh, Pastor Ojotu Ojema, Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo of Katsina-Ala/Logo/Ukum Federal Constituency and Chief Mrs. Regina Akume of Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency remained intact.
