Benue South 2027: Why I refused to join David Mark in ADC – Abba Moro

The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has explained why he chose to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite former Senate President David Mark’s defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking during a television interview, Moro said he was not convinced that leaving the PDP for the ADC was the right decision for him, stressing that both leaders made independent political choices.

“He had his reasons for leaving. I had my reasons for staying,” Moro said.

The Benue South senator noted that although he was dissatisfied with some developments within the PDP, he believed he would have been “a stranger” in the ADC, which he described as a coalition of different political interests.

“I was not completely satisfied with developments in the PDP, but I felt I would be a stranger in the ADC, which has become a coalition of different interests,” he said.

Moro also dismissed speculation that he and David Mark were pursuing a coordinated political strategy despite belonging to different parties.

According to him, the decision by the former Senate President to join the ADC was entirely personal, just as his decision to remain in the PDP was his own.

“The decision to move to the ADC was Senator David Mark’s. My decision to remain in the PDP was mine,” he said.

The lawmaker said he remained loyal to the PDP despite its internal challenges, adding that he was prepared to accept whatever political consequences came with that decision.

“I would rather remain in the PDP. If stability returns and I contest the election, fine. If I am unable to contest because of the legal and political issues surrounding the party, so be it,” he stated.
