Suspected robbers raid TSU students’ residences in Jalingo

Suspected armed robbers reportedly attacked several residences occupied by Taraba State University TSU students in Jalingo, Taraba State.

The attack happened between 1am and 3am on Monday, September 21, 2026. Affected students and members of the university community gave the account.

The suspects allegedly moved from one residence to another. They stole phones, laptops, power banks and other personal belongings.

The affected residences included Dior Compound, Strawers Villa, Mumbai Compound and 3 Brothers Villa.

Abel Muda, a member of the university community, said the attackers also targeted residences along the Alaba-Agric Gate axis.

Some students said the suspects broke doors and windows to enter the buildings. Others reportedly ran into nearby bushes to escape the attackers.

The incident occurred days after suspected robbers reportedly raided the School of Nursing and Midwifery hostels in Jalingo.

No injuries had been confirmed at the time of filing this report. However, the affected students reportedly lost valuables and suffered emotional distress.

The students urged TSU management, ATC community leaders and security agencies to increase night patrols.

They also called for stronger security around student residences in the area.

The police and TSU management had not issued official statements on the incident at the time of filing this report.
