FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to deliver keynote at maiden edition of Idoma Hall of Fame induction
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, will deliver the keynote address at the maiden induction ceremony of the Idoma Hall of Fame scheduled to hold in Abuja.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 12 noon at the Peach Vine Event Centre, Wuye, Abuja.
Wike, who bears the Idoma honorary title “Okokocho K’Idoma,” will speak on the theme, “People, Politics and Power in Nigeria: The Agitation for Equity, Fairness and Justice.”
Explaining the choice of Wike as keynote speaker, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Chief Paul-Harris Ogbole (SAN), said the minister’s strong and vocal position on equity and fairness in the distribution of political power in Nigeria, as well as his advocacy for minority rights, made him particularly suited to address the theme of the ceremony.
“The choice of Nyesom Wike as the keynote speaker was motivated by his very vocal and strong posture on equity and fairness in the distribution of political power in Nigeria and his advocacy for minority rights,” Ogbole said.
He added that Wike’s recognition as a Friend of Idoma was intended to acknowledge his relationship with the Idoma people and his contributions to the community.
The founder and Executive Director of the Idoma Hall of Fame, Engr. Agaba Ikwue, FNSE, said the initiative was established to ensure that the achievements of distinguished Idoma people were properly documented and preserved for future generations.
Ikwue said the Hall of Fame was more than an award platform, describing it as an institution dedicated to preserving Idoma history, celebrating excellence and inspiring younger generations.
“The Idoma Hall of Fame is about preserving our history and celebrating those who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour. We want future generations to know the men and women who contributed to the growth, development and identity of Idoma Nation,” he said.
He also described the initiative as a broader platform for youth mentorship, gender equity, preservation of Idoma heritage and community engagement, stressing that the project is intended to become a lasting institution beyond its founders.
Among those expected to be inducted at the maiden ceremony are former Senate President Senator David Mark; TETFund Executive Secretary Arc. Sonny Echono; legendary musician Dr. Bongos Ikwue; music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia; Dunamis International Gospel Centre founder Dr. Paul Enenche; legal luminary Chief Godwin Obla (SAN); economist Prof. Ode Ojowu; former Supreme Court Justice James Ogenyi Ogebe; and former Head of Service of the Federation Dr. James Abu Obe.
