BREAKING: James Oche, others inaugurated as council chairmen in Benue
James Oche and 22 others who were on 30th May 2020 elected Council Chairmen in Benue State have today been inaugurated by Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
The ceremony which was performed at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi becomes the legal requirement to legitimize their leadership at the third tier of governments.
Responding to questions from men of the pen profession on his feelings, Oche is quoted to have said
“I am elated, I am happy that my long dream to contribute my quota to the development of my people has come true. There is no better feeling than having to start at the grassroots. It avails one the opportunity to add value to the people and also get feedback for his actions and inactions. There is a lot that needs to be done and already, we have a lot in our consideration for the people.”
He maintained further that “Let me use this medium to appreciate God for his benevolence for the success of the election and to my beloved people for finding me worthy to lead at this critical time. I appreciate the Governor and His Deputy and the political and opinion leaders in Benue State whose support has been firm.”
On his plans to confront the challenges peculiar to his local government, Oche said
“I am not new to the Leadership terrain of Ado Local Government having served as Caretaker Chairman. I am assuming leadership at a critical time and I know. We have a lot of security confrontations but I tell you, we have perfected plans to permanently and perpetually put that issue to rest. Security issues you know are better not discussed in the media.
On the expectations of his leadership, Oche remarked
“They now have a government that is people oriented. I started this developmental agenda as Caretaker Chairman and I am now more than ever ready to consolidate on my past achievements. In Ado, we are moving forward, we are not starting anew. Inclusiveness, transparency, honesty, accountability and the fear of the Almighty shall guide our humble feet to achieve. Ado’s time to rise has come.”
