Ramadan fasting to begin Tuesday
Tuesday, 13 April, has been announced as the first day of Ramadan.
President-General of the National Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, made the announcement in a live broadcast on Monday.
According to the Sultan who is also the leader of the Nigerian Muslims, the crescent (moon) of Ramadan 1442AH had been sighted.
The royal father urged Muslims to use the occasion of the Ramadan fasting to seek Allah’s intervention in the security situation of the country and COVID-19 pandemic.
Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, while calling on Muslims to dedicate themselves to the worship of Allah throughout the fasting period, also prayed Allah to assist Muslims in the discharge of their religious duty and urged Muslims to observe COVID-19 protocols during sermons.
